lilies

telling secrets in the creekbed
foreign as the children
we were at the beginning
spreading like the lilies

is it mean to say you gleam as such
the full moon was at our first touch
i long to hold you, frailly now
i long to tell you that i’m proud

write me a mystery
a thousand miles away
i could be an asteroid
stuck inside your space

humbly, i ask of thee
to spare me from the sorrow
to cut through like a sparrow
on the brisk breeze of summer’s eve

call me when you get this
let it be a firm reminder
we were there at the beginning
spreading like the lilies
