Something is Happening

Your teeth gleam of the forest,
Dewy mountains as we kiss.
I like your brain when you let me siphon
Intelligence of terrestrial existence.
I joke of death and we place our bets,
You serenade me through distress.
We could be criminals if we weren’t so good.
We’d be kings, if only we weren’t.

Now the ground is turning white
And your mouth is acting frigid.
Asking where you’ve been,
You startle, go rigid.

Drink to me, drink to the sea,
Drink to everything we’ll be.
Insanity and vanity,
Between the lines, you’re pretty.
Drink to me, drink to the sea,
Drink to everything we heed.

Emotional god complex,
Love is no compass.
We better run and hide,
They’re out for vengeance.

A crime to the world isn’t half as bad
As the crime of mortality that we all have.
